Clint Eastwood's French Beach Hut.

Ever heard of a town called Deauville? No, neither had I until just recently and we've just returned from spending a week there. It's in Normandy, France and is just a few miles along the coast from the D-Day landing beaches.

It's a really nice resort town where rich French people go on holiday and everything is expensive. They have a film festival there every year and along the boardwalk next to the beautiful sandy beach are rows of beach huts.

Over the years many big Hollywood stars have rented these beach huts and they get their names painted on the rails. So I had to get a photo of myself outside the hut where Dirty Harry eats his ice cream and stashes his beach ball when he is in town.

I would recommend this town for a holiday but you will need to save up a lot of money and brush up on your French, just shouting at the waiters in English will get you nowhere.

Go ahead, make your stay.

Glad you had a good time there, Tony! We have been at Deauville once, about ten years ago, and I liked it. As I do always like towns at the seaside.

Sounds like a great time! I'll keep your advice in mind in case I ever get to visit. :)

My dad loved and adored Clint Eastwood, so I've seen all his movies, from his spaghetti westerns to dirty harry to the one with an orangutan :) My dad would have been very impressed by your picture! I'm can't fathom a lifestyle where just staying somewhere will get your name on a rail. I think you should have spray painted your name underneath his!

I'll start saving then but I've always wanted to visit the D-Day sites!

It would be so nice if the beach hut on the other side was Vivienne Westwood's.

That's so awesome man, I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan so to be somewhere were he stayed is amazing in my eyes. The town also sounds great, that whole Normandy visit must have been great fun and very interesting, I've heard there's a lot to see.

What about shouting at the waiters in a French accent?
Or offering them copies of bootleg Jerry Lewis movies?

I won't go to France without The Hurricane. She speaks French so well that the French actually tolerate her quite well.

Love,
Janie

I've been there. In fact, living in Normandy is a dream of mine. Not along the beach, but in the countryside. The best meal I've ever had in life was at the Hotel de Normandie in Avranches. Oh, the cheese board...

I always roll my eyes when English speaking people yell in English at non-English speaking people. They don't speak English. They aren't deaf!!!!

What? You mean all of France does not look like Paris? I have been so disillusioned!
Glad you got a chance to get away for a bit! Charming picture.

Yes I've been there! My Mum had a cottage ten miles away. Proper posh 'aint it! I've seen coiffured poodles being walked there and everything.

Nice!

I'd like to go there someday. When I learn French. But I'd still shout at the waiters in English just for the laugh of it.
