Horse Meat and Popes.
What's happening in the world today? Let's have look.
The Catholic world is shocked as the Pope announces he is resigning. Well the man is 85 years old so I don't really think it should be that much of a shock. Why did they make a man in his 80's the Pope anyway, they should have chosen a younger model and that way they could have got a few more years of waving at big crowds out of him.
In the UK the horse meat scandal rumbles on and on. For those of you who haven't heard about this, tests have shown that many budget brands of processed ready meals that are supposed to contain beef have instead got a healthy dollop of horse flesh instead.
There are plenty of countries where horse meat is consumed regularly but over here this is a no no for some reason.
I ate horse in Italy a few years ago, it was a bit tough but quite a strong, beefy taste to it and I quite liked it.
I suppose the issue is that it is not labelled as horse but when people want to only pay £1.50 for a ready meal lasagne they should be thankful it isn't bloody rat meat. Never, ever eat ready meals.
If people want a lasagne they should make their own, it isn't hard. Get a cook book and follow the instructions, that's how I learned. Lazy bastards.
North Korea are playing with their nuclear missiles in what can only be described as a pissing contest. That country scares the shit out of me, watching news footage from North Korea takes me back the the Cold War with ranks of military officers standing in endless lines watching missile parading past. And everywhere there are huge pictures of that slimy looking, fat man-baby that is the new leader.
It looks like Orwell's 1984, scary shit.
Happy trails.

It's a shame that most of the things that are happening in the world is so depressing, the horsemeat thing is being so overblown out of proportion though that it's getting annoying, I think it's a lesson you get if you're buying cheap like you say anyway.
When it comes to the Pope I think that the surprise was that most Popes do it until death which is why it's confusing but I'm with you on someone his age being the wrong choice for sure.
I think the solution to all this might be to elect a North Korean Vegetarian Horse as Pope, that way the new Pope would be able to bring world peace and better food. After all no one with any sense would eat the Popes family. That is the sort of thing that would lead to you finding a horses head in your bed . . . .AH
I think that makes sense now ...
Yeah if anything happens North Korea will be the cause of it, they are wacko, for lack of a better word haha
I think I must have eaten plenty of horse in my time. North Korea scares the shit out of me too. Much more than horse meat.
North Korea is pretty freaky.
Plus what Rob Z said
Oh, I could talk to you for hours about North Korea. Believe me, they aren't as scary as they would have you believe. Well, I take that back. They aren't as much of a global threat as they would have you believe. Scary? Yeah. Orwellian? Hell yeah. The entire Kim clan lives in the fucking twilight zone. What most people don't see, however, is that he just spent the equivalent of $850 million US dollars to test their latest nuke while the rest of the country stays trapped in a shit swamp of generations of malnutrition so pervasive that the average North Korean is 2 inches shorter than his South Korean counterpart. That million man Army? On the brink of starvation. The only reason they eat is because they raid villages and steal from the regular folks. Parents watching children die. Cannibalism. A system of concentration camps that make the Nazis seem like Robin Hood's merry men. Oh yeah. We could talk for hours about North Korea....
North Korea scares the batcrap out of me, too.
And not just because if the big ass hats.
I would rather not eat a horsie. They are pretty. It would be too much like eating a doggie. I'm not a Catholic, but I was surprised about the Pope. Popes usually don't quit. They die in the Popedom. It's been six centuries since the last time a Pope resigned. Popes are always old men because Popes have to be grouchy and say, No! You can't get on with your life and use birth control. It takes a grouchy old man to make that kind of pronouncement. North Korea is a sad place with all those starving people. They are going to get caught in their own shit storm. Nice having this current events discussion with you.
Love,
Janie
I get depressed when I think about the kind of world my children are having to grow up in.
And I'm sure you've heard by now that Oscar Pistorius was arrested for killing his girlfriend. Well technically, that's today's news.
And yes, at least it's not rat or cat meat. I still wouldn't feel comfortable eating Seabiscuit though.

Are you going to make that recipe above? Maybe try it with horse meat. Personally, I just don't think horses look like they'd be tasty - too chewy, I'd expect.
I was wondering the same thing about why pick such an old fellow to be Pope. But I suppose there are reasons he was needed for this time that we don't understand. This announcement came the same week my pastor & his adorable side-kick priest announced that they're both leaving us to go work for the Bishop. Has been a destabilizing week. :(
No kidding that's a scary pic above. And wow didnt know about the horse meat. Really it's no worse than cows when you think about it, but kinda like eating cat or dog. Not gonna do it unless it's a necessity.
heh russia hits a metoer and my best mates flat gets burnt to the ground. as a canadian, its going to be a wild family day long weekend.
Just because it's beef doesn't mean it's clean. The movie Fast Food Nation horrified me, and made me happy I don't eat much meat.
I love the line about the pope waving to the crowds. I like the idea of old guys admitting they're not up to it though.
Government is scary in general, all the covering up of things and secret societies and agendas...it gets darker the deeper you look.
Yeah the horsemeat thing doesn't make sense to me but that could just be because I don't like horses.
Given the chance, I'd create my own horsemeat farm and sell nothing but horse burgers.
I hope the new pope is a computer. They can just update his software every few years and with his processing/computing skills it probably would be infallible.
